In this blog we discuss SSE Business energy bills. We strongly encourage small business owners to find the lowest business energy prices in the market. In order to secure the best price we recommend that you have your business energy bill handy. To help small business owners we are writing blogs about reading and understanding business energy bills. Each blog will focus on a different energy company.
In this blog we focus on SSE Business energy bills. For this blog we are using SSE Business energy’s own bill explanation which you can find here: https://bit.ly/2D1ur5z. The main point of information is how much energy the business is using and whether the business has one or several energy meters. The example below is for a small business with a single meter.
Typically the bill will consist of several pages (often double side printed). The cover page usually has summary information about your business and charges. Subsequent pages have information about your business energy consumption and rates.
When you are switching energy providers your meter’s address, billing period and billing period usage are really important.
Other energy companies want to know your business meter address (sometimes it is different from your registered business address). Energy companies also want to know how much energy you consume. – this can be per month, per quarter or per year.
Billing period and your meter’s address
To find your billing period and business meter address on the SSE business energy bill, please look just below No. 5 on the business electricity bill which appears on the first page of the bill. You will find in much smaller font your supply address, which they call ‘Site name’. This is the address for your meter.
In this SSE example, the period is for one month, August 2015. We will show below how you calculate your quarterly, and annual consumption using the above information.
ENERGY CONSUMED DURING THE BILLING PERIOD
SSE states the consumption amount on the very first page.
To find energy consumed during the period please take a look at the third column called ‘Energy’. Below you will see a number. In this example the energy consumption number is 1,234.56 for the month of August.
This number is critical for your business energy comparison and finding the lowest business energy price for your business.
That means that during one month the business consumed 1,234.56 Kilowatt hours.
ESTIMATING BUSINESS ENERGY CONSUMPTION PER QUARTERONSUMPTION
To get a quarterly consumption you can approximate by multiplying the above number by three. So we get, 1,234.56 * 3 = 3,703.68 Kwh consumed per quarter. This is an estimate of course, but is a good guide based on the actual consumption.
ESTIMATING YEARLY ENERGY CONSUMPTION
If you want to figure out your yearly consumption you can multiply 1,234.56 times 12 = 14,814.72 Kwh (or Killowatt Hours).
Now you are armed with great information to start killing the energy bills. You can compare business energy prices, find the lowest business energy price and best business energy provider and switch.
